Kat is back, addressing my minor concerns in previous volumes, and bringing more of the mind over might that I found so intriguing in the second volume. The unexplained powers Kat exhibited in the second book, while not explained, are touched on in a way that make them feel like part of a greater arc rather than a last minute solution. The mystery is still there, and it didn’t at all cheapen the experience for me this time.The characters continue to get stronger. The antagonist was fantastic. Relationships build and progress. 4.5The world building as always is my favorite element in these works, and continues to delight. 5 The story has nice complexity, caught me off guard with me expecting twists that never came, and being caught off guard by those that occurred. Well done! 4.5 I noticed a single minor editing issue, but it didn’t pull me from the immersion. 4.5
