I just had knee surgery, and I bought this book to take my mind off the pain as I’m stretching my new knee scars. It’s worked. The writing and the plot have been good enough to divert my mind from what usually is a very unpleasant experience. I picked up some other volumes in the series and intend to read them all before I finish my recovery. Actually, more murder than drugs, but drugs are used as a distraction for one of the deaths. A body is found during a mountain rescue, but it’s not the body of the person lost on the mountain. Turns out it’s the son-in-law of one of the rescuers. And so the race to find the killer begins. Before it’s over, two more people die. One a police officer. DCI Logan finally manages to make 2+2 add up to 4. But he doesn’t manage to figure out how his old nemesis is calling him, saying just enough threatening words to send him round the bend.
