A book from a new to me author and it was cartel, so mafia’ish, yeah. But as I started reading I noticed errors here and there. Then they became quite a bit throughout the story. And then I realized I didn’t like the female main lead. I never got behind her way of thinking. Y’all, I even walked away for a day at 72% in. I eventually came back because, yeah, I was invested. I wanted to know what would happen between both Serena and Leo. But in the end, once I was done, I kind of hated how Leo handled it all. I mean, we are looking at the second most feared man and in all of Mexico and he couldn’t do anything to revenge his wife’s abduction? All in all, I rate the book about 4 stars. Definitely no more than that because I feel I am being generous giving it 4. But the story did bring me back after I laid it down, so that has to count for something, right?
