Brief Summary The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen

I’ll admit that while I liked Lara, I got a little frustrated with her. Acknowledging that sometimes it’s hard to see the truth when it’s staring you in the face and the fact that while she seemed to acknowledge her father was a bastard, he was still her father, it felt like it took too long for her to go “huh, I wonder why he’s not meeting the agreements of the Treaty. Wonder where that stuff is actually going” instead of just taking Serin’s word of how things were going. I did like how she started to care of Ithicana even if it seemed like it was being dragged out of her. And then once things were revealed and she realized what it meant, I loved how she interacted with people in Eranahl and seemed to be making friends with people. Then of course things happened at the end and I really want her to kick some ass in the next book.Aren was intriguing. I liked how he cared for his people but it seemed like while he was suspicious of Lara, his actions didn’t really point that way until Vencia. Like, there were little things, mostly him hiding in the barracks but there wasn’t really much more than that to point to him having figured her for a spy.
