OK, I’ll start by saying I was a bit conflicted about this book. I want to rave, I want to fangirl until you are all sick of listening to me and no one ever reads one of my reviews again. And overall, that is just want I want to do. If this was any other author, I would probably be. Ms. White has raised my expectations so high that it is possible that I am judging this book too harshly by only giving it 4 stars. But I just have an issue with a main plot point, which I am going to try to explain without giving anything away. I just don’t buy why Liam hires her in the beginning of the book. I don’t believe Aileen has shown enough knowledge of the magical world, or has shown strong enough ties to various portions of the magical community, that anyone would think she was the right person for the job. Now I know this was mostly explained at the end, but frankly, I spend a good 270 pages wondering about it. On the other hand, this was still a fantastic story, pacing was good, editing (which is SO important) was well done, and I am more invested in the characters then I was after Book 1, so I’ll count that overall as a win. I have already downloaded (and frankly, by the time I actually posted this review, had already read!) book 3. Well worth your time and money.
