What a debut! BHPB follows twins Kehinde and Taiye as well as their mother. The twins, once inseparable, become estranged following a traumatic childhood experience. The book is told from all three sides with alternating timelines.My favourite character was Taiye. I think she was the most fleshed out and her emotional journey was beautifully told on the pages from self-discovery to flourishing in her cooking career to her need to fix her strained relationship with her sister. I was definitely rooting for her.The depiction of food as well as the world travels of the sisters as they navigated adulthood made for great reading.
