Brief Summary Things I Wanted To Say by Monica Murphy

In many respects a classic romance in some ways second chance and enemies to lovers. Six years after their first kiss shared after Whitaker insults a 14-year old Summer for her mother’s having an affair with his father, they meet again as seniors at a Lancaster academy. Whitaker Lancaster with his family name rules the school and rules Summer Savage whom he regards as his enemy, and with the discovery of her diary, he unleashes bullying, emotional discord, as well as blackmail in a combination of sex + light Dom / sub. This story follows their long tumultuous relationship as star-crossed lovers.Sparks fly in their fiery attraction and, for Whit, unwanted connectedness and distain. This book was heavy in angst, a relentlessly pervasive theme through the story. Whit was THE biggest a*hole I’ve come across — sexy, cold, detached, but with an internal emotional struggle. And while I love a jerk of a hero any day of the week, there was imbalance in the power play in the story. Summer was too yielding, despite words in the book regaling her strength. For instance, Whit could be a jerk, date other women in Summer’s face, but she was never depicted with a (happy) relationship on which he loses his advantage.
