I have read a whole lot of words this woman has spun into a tale and she exceeds my expectations every time. She layers a story like nobody’s business. I am awe-struck every time I read her books. You guys, I’m an Elizabeth junkie. She is my book crack. Elizabeth absolutely wrecked me with this heartbreakingly beautiful second chance love story, The Summer We Fell. Rooted in this couple’s history, Juliet and Luke’s story was moving, poignant and, at times, painful. But as devastating as their history was, there was a lot of beauty intermingled within that pain. This was a marvellous story coupled with Elizabeth’s masterful and incomparable talent. I was spellbound.

This story was such an emotional experience. Told in alternating timelines between the past and the present, Juliet and Luke and their love story was filled with this sort of first love energy. That is – it was youthful and hopeful and desperate. And it served as the most bittersweet background for their decidedly heavier, grittier, present day love story. It was just stunning. Breathtaking sometimes. Frustrating other times. But I loved these two fiercely at all times and I was on board from the first word to the very last. Full of twist and turns, trauma and tumultuous emotion, The Summer We Fell was an incredible story of love and forgiveness. Elizabeth O’Roark’s brilliant and captivating portrayal of a love reignited amid a painful past captured my attention from the first page and held it the whole way through.
