Not sure what i expected when I picked this up, but now that I put it down I feel..satisfied. This was an emotional story, one that might not have evoked tears, but it managed to move me emotionally multiple times. Reading this you should expect a novel story, with an unexpectedly young protagonist and strong friendships. The characters are nicely done and they are polished enough to look original, which is rare. There are good guys, bad guys and a lot of grey areas in places you wouldn’t expect, a pleasant surprise overall. There is mystery, only bits are uncovered and we can see how the groundwork is laid for the next parts for the story. Still, I’m curious of what is going to happen next. Usually by now I would have written about all the downsides of the book, but I don’t have much this time. Why then didn’t I give it 5 stars? Well, it didn’t feel grandiose and it didn’t hook my up entirely. The pacing was good, but not supremely good.
