I don’t know what other term better describes this book, where the character-in-chief is named Karma, her lover is Fate, and her best friend is Lady Luck. Her office mates include the Jinxes and Murphy (of Murphy’s Law), and the Cat Lady who always had a cat or two with her. In one scene, the Cat Lady befriends Karma, pointing out that she had sent many cats to Karma. Karma naturally asked whether the cats had been sent to her apartment. The Cat Lady said that she had sent many cats to Karma before she died and that she only sent cats to people that had choices. Well, this made sense since cats have to choose you first before you can choose them.

Brief Summary of the Book

It’s not like I wanted this job. I wasn’t even in my right mind when I accepted the position.Now, I’m surrounded by crazy coworkers like Lady Luck, who’s a bit of a tramp, and Murphy’s Law, who’s a bumbling oaf. But the worst is Fate. He’s got a problem with transfers like myself and I have to see him constantly.Karma is a bitch. In this case a whiny, whiny (did I mention whiny?) bitch. She’s not very smart (for all that she’s meant to be a good lawyer). She’s contrary and actively works against people trying to help her. Slavishly follows all the romance tropes (“I hate the good-looking, rich, charming, knowledgeable guy who is always looking out for me because he’s not immediately a slave to my whims…until my libido overrules me, fighting all the way.”)
