Anyway, so we open with the half-dressed cowboy who already needs a shower from shoveling manure out of a barn stall and we have the not-too-pretty-to-relate-to-but-still-gorgeous heroine who’ll do anything for her friends. Purple is a color. Eye-flucks happen, mildly smarmy (to me) dialogue happens, cowboy guy tells heroine that he wants “to ravish” her. Do guys even say that? Really? Moving on.I do have to say that I love the fact that this couple has some life under their collective belts – she’s 39 and he’s 42. I like that they’re not strangely over-experienced teenie-boppers. This age combo seems more realistic. It’s nice reading from both their POVs, too, so that’s a great touch. He’s a little too obvious about being sex-starved for the heroine who does a good job of also being sex starved for him but she’s not being as over-blown about it. I like how the writer incorporated an acknowledgement to group therapy/talking about what happened to help survivors deal with things that have happened but for some reason safe sex isn’t a thing that exists in this book. Eventually things happen and there’s a doggie involved and HEA ensues after far too few dates.
