The story is told in the four friends POV. Chase, the brains of the YouTube channel, Kiki, the cute popular girl with the most followers, Emma, the goth girl who helps run the cameras, and Chrissy, the secret ingredient. You get each of their perspectives and personalities which made for a refreshing read.Also loosely based on the real story of Elisa Lam, the woman who went missing in the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles only to be found later in the hotel’s water tower. Except in this story, it’s Hearst Hotel and Eileen Warren and parts of her body were found scattered in the elevator shaft. The gang sets off to see if they can solve the mysterious happenings surrounding her death since a surveillance video shows her acting erratic before her body was found. It’s a little bit Blair Witch Project meets Scooby-Doo, then sprinkle in a paranormal twist and you get Horror Hotel.
