If you haven’t read Hunter and Kat yet—book one—do yourself a favor and dive into it, and then come back and enjoy the oldest Donnelly brother, Max, as he fights the temptation of his new coworker, Heidi, the woman he definitely shouldn’t want… Heidi is back in Dogwood Cove after she moved away and is now pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatrician. In fact, she’s back at the same hospital where she used to work as a nurse, with Max as one of her attendings. The hostility Max shows Heidi makes no sense to her, but she has no idea of the bad memories that she’s tied to in his mind. He wants nothing to do with her, but fate has other plans. But can they find a way to be together with everything stacking up against them? The biggest issue is the medical education aspect of the book. It’s incorrect from the timing to the wording and everything in between. It’s not actually possible for Heidi to be a third year resident and still in medical school. I could overlook this, but the author states she had readers for this and goes into extreme detail in these areas when she didn’t have to. So those of us with this knowledge are constantly reminded that it’s off.

Brief Summary of the Book

eidi and Max have had an attraction to each other when she was a nurse at Westpoint Hospital but she was with her boyfriend and he hated her boyfriend for his own personal reasons making her the enemy then Heidi left the hospital so that she could support her boyfriend even though she loved it there and after breaking up with him she went back and trained to become a doctor. Now Heidi is a doctor and working back at Westpoint Hospital which she is excited about as she is back with some of her friends so imagine her surprise when she sees Max again and he is even more handsome if possible but she can’t understand why he is treating her so badly but friendly with everyone else. Max can’t believe that Heidi is back and the way that he has been treating her is really unprofessional but he can’t seem to help himself and it is all because of the past. When Max and Heidi talk out there problems everything between them start to fall in to place and the attraction, connection and chemistry between them becomes hard to ignore and undeniable but if they cross that line it could cause major complications in there job and ruin there careers. There are ups and downs along with emotional situations that had me in tears and yet I still couldn’t put this book down as it pulled you into the story right from the first page and completely hooked you in and had you turning the pages to see what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them.
