Dante Moretti is the head of the Cosa Nostra and is looking to collect a debt that is owed to him by Kat’s brother. When he can’t find her brother he takes Kat as payment.Dante is book 1 in the Chicago Ruthless Series. There are a lot of layers to this story. We learn a lot about Dante and his family dynamic and about Kat and her troubled past. Kat looks for the good in Dante but he pushes her away so many times that she begins to believe him and tries to run. But he finally opens up to Kat and they both start to heal their own wounds and work together through their feelings and their past.Sadie sets the stage for the next two books in the series as well with the character development of Dante’s siblings Lorenzo and Joey. We learn just enough about them to start to create a storyline for their books in our minds.I thought the development of the characters and the storyline was great. The book flows just like all of Sadie’s other books and Dante rivals Alejandro Montoya from the LA Ruthless Series in my opinion for the over-the-top alpha male once he realizes that he loves Kat.
