The Secret Life Of Sunflowers Summary

“The Secret Life Of Sunflowers: A gripping, inspiring novel based on the true story of Johanna Bonger, Vincent van Gogh’s sister-in-law” is a good book that you can read online or download to read it later. When Hollywood auctioneer Emsley Wilson finds her famous grandmother’s diary while cleaning out her New York brownstone, the pages are full of surprises. The first surprise is, the diary isn’t her grandmother’s. It belongs to Johanna Bonger, Vincent van Gogh’s sister-in-law. Johanna inherited Vincent van Gogh’s paintings. They were all she had, and they weren’t worth anything. She was a 28 year old widow with a baby in the 1800s, without any means of supporting herself, living in Paris where she barely spoke the language. Yet she managed to introduce Vincent’s legacy to the world. The inspiration couldn’t come at a better time for Emsley. With her business failing, an unexpected love turning up in her life, and family secrets unraveling, can she find answers in the past? “This book was so much more than I had expected, and I had high expectations… one of the most beautiful stories I’ve read in years.” Kaela Stokes “It touched something in my soul.” The Secret Life Of Sunflowers ePub Download

Brief Summary The Secret Life Of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar

The story line with Emsley and her pet chick and Emsley’s nude performance dancing in front of her new boyfriend just became silly and trite. It left me a bit disappointed. I was absolutely fascinated with the Johanna story line. I was enthralled with how the author wove details into how she met Theo and how their relationship developed. I learned a lot. People who pick up this book, that is what they want to read about. I was okay with the Emsley component at the beginning, with many lines that had me laughing out loud, but it just got too ridiculous for me at the end. After seeing the Van Gogh exhibit in Detroit, it really was the Johanna portion that attracted me to the book and that portion did not disappoint. I loved all of that part of the book and so I would still recommend it, if only to gain more insight into this incredible, tenacious woman who made us aware of the beautiful artwork of Vincent Van Gogh.
