Wes has struggled with his home life, and after doing the right thing landed him in hot water at his only chance to be far away from home, he returns with his head down and doing what is obligated of him in order to survive until he can make it on his own. Avery has lived in the shadow of her father’s death almost her whole life and has made sacrifices in order to make sure her sister is able to do what she couldn’t. When these two first meet, Avery is determined to not give Wes the time of day after finding out he’s a football player, especially with how her last relationship with one went. However, fate intervenes and these two continue to run into each other and see each other and develop a friendship of sorts that morphs into something more. I loved how these two were there for the other, even sticking up for each other when it came down to it. I did feel like I needed more backstory for Avery – she was extremely hostile in the beginning and there wasn’t really an understanding of why until much later, although it caused me to feel like I was missing a part of the story, and same for Wes’ background as well.
