The Passenger by Cormac McCarthy Book Review

“The Passenger  ” is a good book that you can read online or download to read it later. Before starting the reading or downloading, here is the summary of the book that you can read. 1980, PASS CHRISTIAN, MISSISSIPPI: It is three in the morning when Bobby Western zips the jacket of his wet suit and plunges from the Coast Guard tender into darkness. His dive light illuminates the sunken jet, nine bodies still buckled in their seats, hair floating, eyes devoid of speculation. Missing from the crash site are the pilot’s flight bag, the plane’s black box, and the tenth passenger. But how? A collateral witness to machinations that can only bring him harm, Western is shadowed in body and spirit—by men with badges; by the ghost of his father, inventor of the bomb that melted glass and flesh in Hiroshima; and by his sister, the love and ruin of his soul. The Passenger by Cormac McCarthy

Brief Summary The Passenger by Cormac McCarthy

That’s why I’m saddened to admit that this novel seemed like it came from a different author. Or maybe I should say it still seemed like a McCarthy, but not Cormac McCarthy. It was Cormac’s less-popular cousin who speaks the same vocabulary but just can’t quite find his stride. Something like that. I suppose I should’ve known this before I even bought the book, since one of the first things I heard about The Passenger was that it was going to be different from whatever had come before. I assumed that “different” meant that it would retain everything that I loved about McCarthy, in tone, in style, the poetry, the darkness, the masculine spirit, the horrifying themes, but would just take introduce some never-before-seen characters or take place in a different ambience since, if there is one thing I know about the author’s work (and I have read all of it), it is that the same characters are reincarnated in all of his novels. First and foremost, there’s the perpetually-wandering male antihero. I thought maybe he’d formulate some new composite to meander through a darker context.
