The main character, Alter, is full of internal conflict and having to deal with external issues at the same time, makes a really compelling read. I loved the supernatural element, even though it’s a key part of the plot it doesn’t overwhelm the story and it makes for some really interesting scenarios. I also like the strong cultural element throughout the book. The setting was great, really captured the underbelly of the city and did a good job contrasting with the other parts of the city. The romance element in the book is also really good, a bit of a slow burn with lots of history that needs to be addressed
