The Alice Curse is the 3rd installment in the Reimagined Fairy Tales Collection, which features standalone novels based in the same universe/world. This novel is based around the Alice in Wonderland fairytale and I really enjoyed how the characters are changed up.
Wonderland needs an Alice and Eliza is the next. After the death of her grandmother, the previous Alice, Eliza escapes her parent’s plans and is taken to Wonderland by Finn. Finn, the White Rabbit, is charged with bringing the next Alice to the Red Court or his head is forfeit, as Alice will decide if Red will continue its rule of Wonderland or if the White Court will control Wonderland. As Eliza and Finn navigate a treacherous Wonderland, they must deal with two courts where nothing is at it seems and deal with their growing feelings for each other.First, I really liked seeing Van Dyke’s interpretations of the classic characters. You can tell who the characters are inspired by, but they are still completely new versions.
