n the Puget Sound off the shores of Seattle sits Saoirse Island. It is an island visited each year by eager tourists. Whoever controlled the orchards thus had great power over the island and its residents, many of which made their living at the orchards.The orchards had originally belonged to the Morgan family, but by marriage, fell to the Salts. When Henry Salt died over eight years ago, he finally ended the power imbalance on the island by leaving the orchards to the town. His son, Calvin, had left the island over two decades earlier, and his grandson, August, had likewise left over five years before the time of Henry’s death.
