At first, Myracles in the Void was too outlandish for me to feel connected to. However, while reading the book, I found many good morals to the story. I love fantasy but, although very creative, this book of fantasy was beyond my realm (but don’t judge this book too harshly, because I am not a Harry Potter fan!).This is about a very quirky, once close and happy family, in a very disgustingly quirky land. The Hop Island became abandoned by the water traffic, which made receiving goods from other places obsolete. he Island inhabitants became desperate, separated by “class” prejudices, with a very small-town “tunnel vision”, and a very depressing attitude. The Izz family was especially targeted wen the husband/father began acting strangely then disappeared, leaving his wife, son, and daughter to fare for themselves.Five years later, the son trying to “fill his father’s shoes” was scavenging to find a special present for his sister’s thirteenth birthday, when everything went wrong and his sister disappeared. The town turned on the mother and Gaiel’s only option of survival was to find his father and maybe this could bring the family back together.
