I’m still not entirely certain, even after finishing Katie Gutierrez’s estimable fictional debut, “More Than You’ll Ever Know,” that I’m fully squared away on the circumstances of the shooting at the heart of her novel in which a true-crime blogger, Cassie Bowman, attempts to get at the truth behind a sensational bigamy case in which one of the twice-married woman’s husbands ends up dead. But that’s part of the point, as I take it, or perhaps the whole point, of a novel which is as much as anything an examination of the difficulties and responsibilities of a journalist in pursuing and getting right a story, particularly a sensational one, in which the principals’ perceptions and motives, as well as those of the investigating journalist, play a major role.
