Eureka, Georgia is a place in the south stuck in Jim Crow even as the rest of the world in 1953 is exploding with racial turmoil. The Yates family is Black. The Heathwoods are white. Race mixing is prevalent, but hidden like a dirty secret. One couple, him white and her Black, fell in love and had twin girls, one light and one dark. Something tragic happens and the girls are separated at birth, one raised as white the other as Black. And neither knows the other exists until Nana Jeanette is dying and wants to leave the home she made in Harlem and go back home to Eureka to fix what’s broken before she dies.
