I was hooked from the first chapter. Billie, Natalie, Helen, and Mary Alice have a particular set of skills worthy of the lives they have chosen. As professional assasins for the good guys, they quietly rid our world of Nazis and arms dealers, predatory bishops and drug smugglers. Two of our killers have satisfying domestic relationships but this really isn’t the kind of job that lends to domesticity since the call to murder comes at any hour and can last for many weeks. As they enter their 60s, they are routinely excellent at their assignments even if they know the job won’t last forever. It all changes though when they become aware that someone wants them permanently out of work now.
