The author captured Margo perfectly on how someone who seems to be extremely nice and helpful, but deep down has some twisted urges. I found the first section of the book to be interesting as you see Margo try to adapt to her new role as a librarian and hide in plain sight. She is also remarkably great at her job. It honestly makes you shudder thinking about the all the Margos in the world you could possibly be interacting with in your day to day (fingers crossed that is a low probability).Patricia is a second character the books follow who is a passionate writer, but decides to put down her pen to focus on a career as a research librarian. She quickly uncovers Margo’s secret and becomes fascinated with her new coworker. Both characters are consumed by their passions, and the reader gets to watch how this affects each other and their own lives. Overall, this felt like a game of cat and mouse where I wasn’t 100% sure of how this would end. Also, I could see how the author used her own experiences to capture the struggles being a writer and working at a library.
