Brief Summary Forbidden Honor by May Dawson

First things first, I like where the story is going and I’ve already bought the second book. I love the idea that your shifter animal is based on your soul, but it’s still kinda sorta genetic, but not entirely. The little sister is just as outspoken as our heroine, and with the same penchant for trouble that made me wanna smack her in the back of her preteen head.Unfortunately, an editor is badly needed. There are several overused phrases that, the more I saw them, the more they pulled me out of the story and grated on my nerves (traded kisses, melted in/out of shadows). More than a few spots seemed rushed, especially at the end, where the author just told you what they did in one sentence and moved on. A lot of the chapters start with “Later that day,” or “The next morning,” or “A few hours later.” While I’m all for keeping track of time, these could be rephrased so the repetition doesn’t grab so much attention. And my favorite for last, “His sightless eyes stared sightlessly…” made me both laugh and cringe.
