Deliver Us from Evil written by David Baldacci which was published in 2 July 2010. You can read this before Deliver Us from Evil PDF EPUB full Download at the bottom. This book started so good and had a great pace to it. I was enjoying it right until the end, which felt rushed. Deliver Us From Evil introduces us to a new shadowy organization, this one with no government sanction at all (unlike Shaw’s, which it is revealed is in some way funded by the G8), and has as its mission killing Nazis and other bad guys from old now in hiding. Here, the author sort of struggles with some moral questions, but ultimately resolves them in an unsatisfying manner, to the extent they’re resolved at all. (This is somewhat pertinent to today with the recent killing of Osama bin Laden.) This shadowy organization, which boasts the irresistible (to men in the book, that is) blonde heroine “Reggie” — the female lead of Deliver Us — hunts down old men who oftentimes near their deaths anyway, and who in some cases have not engaged in capital crimes for many decades. They put the men to death, first showing them evidence of their crimes. In doing this, they are willing to risk not only their own lives but also the lives of innocents — to kill men who are near death any way for crimes they committed many years ago! This logic is never really questioned, though the morality of their killing is. Nevertheless, when faced with the opportunity to shut them down, Shaw wants to do what he can to keep them in operation (even though he wants to bring the bad guy to trial in the case in which he, Shaw, is working with this organization). It can be safely assumed that these Nazi killers have spilled innocent blood in the past, as they always talk about their willingness to accept “collateral damage.” I found this whole aspect morally disturbing, particularly because I don’t think the author intended it to be so, but it did not really sully my enjoyment of the book.
