Brief Summary Cursed by Splendor by Michelle Moras

This was good for a debut novel. I love reading Greek mythology, and I find retelling and re-imagining stories about the gods and goddesses fascinating. The author did well with her world-building. I also enjoyed reading about the side characters. She made them both exciting and intriguing. My favorites were Dionysus, Persephone, and Hades. She did a great job boiling my blood as I read about Zeus. How manipulative and meddlesome he was, especially when he sensed a more robust power than his. I also enjoyed reading about Hephaestus’s grumpiness and isolation and how Kharis softens him. I love reading about the 3 Graces, and I look forward to reading Thea and Rosyne’s story in the future. If there was something I was looking forward to, the author’s next novel would be the wording. Sometimes, it felt too casual and novice, which is acceptable for a debut novel. Maybe I was expecting pure, classic, and elegant conversation since I was reading about gods and goddesses. But overall, this was an easy, enjoyable read with the right amount of spice.
