This is the second book in Magicsmith series, and I wondered if the high standards of the first book would be maintained. They certainly were. I think this is slightly better than the first since the characters are familiar. Secrets are revealed, the world is expanded and existing characters are seen in a new light. Genuine character development, together with great “adventure”, in a sufficiently believable setting. That’s as good as it gets.My only complaint is that I feel we are still in the preamble and waiting for the main story to start – not that it’s a bad thing but I’m impatient to see where that goes.
