This novel however is much ‘smaller’ in scale. It focuses on two characters and approximately three stories. One story takes place well in the past and has to do with events leading to the founding of the main character’s planet. Another story has to do with the immediate past of the main character, providing his current motivation. His current motivation and plans make up the bulk of the novel, and involve him attempting to track down someone who killed people that the main character worked for and/or had an attachment to.As a side element, he ends up in a location which underwent something called a ‘Melding Plague’ which did horrific things to almost all robotic/technological items including the buildings as well as the implants that the humans on the planet had inside them.
