annalee is something very rare in the the 1920’s, a black female professor. her father has died under mysterious circumstances in her home town of denver. one year later she receives a telegram asking her to come back. leaving the bitter cold chicago winter behind she boards a train for denver. being a sherlock holmes fan, she figures she is smart enough to solve the mystery her father’s death. denver in the 1920’s was a kkk town and it is dangerous to bring attention to yourself if you are black. the book is very well written. the characters are well developed. i highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery.
