Court Stevens has done it again! From the first page, you are transported into small town Kentucky where you are instantly curious who committed murder. Born and raised in Kentucky, I love being able to picture where the characters are exploring. And how could I not love a book with the mother’s name being my own, Beth, and a stunning yellow Camero as part of the crime. Just one more chapter was never enough! Clues interwoven throughout with creative details throughout. There’s always some good Harry Potter references which I love. With every page turn, the reader is trying to figure out the suspect(s). There’s something for everyone: romance, adventure, suspense, blood, humor, escape, and reconciliation. The ending is shocking and unpredictable. After finishing We Were Kings, I stayed up thinking through all the details to see how the ending ties into the rest of the book. I had to take a break from reading books with having kids but so excited to read “The June Boys” next! I loved her first books, “Faking Normal” and “The Lies About Truth”, especially for teens discovering who they are and about the world around them.
