Brief Unnatural Magic by Stacia Stark

“Unnatural Magic” is the first book in Stacia Stark’s new series “Bargains with Beasts”. This is a spin off of her original series “Deals With Demons”. The book focuses around the mystery surrounding Evie, The sister to Danica the main character from the Demon series. The book picks up right where that series left off and begins to answer some of the questions readers have had about what is going on with these characters. While you would not have to read the first series, (there is enough exposition to explain things so you will not be lost) but I would recommend reading those first to get the full experience. This is planned to be a 3 book series, 2 focusing on Evie, one on a third character. I loved this book. It is a great addition to this series and I am already anxious that I have to wait until January for the next book in the series. While this book does have a cliffhanger ending, it also has a self contained story that is wrapped up nicely. I really like Stark’s ability to have that cliffhanger ending while still giving you closure and feeling satisfied. I have read many books that had me screaming at the end with what is going on. This felt more like giving us a hint of the next adventure.
