I have mixed feelings about this book, to be honest. The story was interesting, but it didn’t feel good to read it. The story centers heavily around the psychological and physical abuse of a small girl from ages 5-15. If any readers have a background in abuse, you may want to skip this one, because it will be incredibly triggering. I didn’t know this going into the book, and as someone who was raised in an abusive household, it was difficult to read.Although I liked the main character, Didi, it was hard to follow her narrative voice at times – her viewpoint could be chaotic, often repeating things over and over, her thought processes switching quickly between reality, self-comforting phrases, and the things she imagines. I couldn’t always follow what was happening.
