Every time I had a free moment at work I was sneaking over to my Kindle to read a bit more. I did not want to put it down. This story follows Whitney, a young kindergarten teacher, who has faced some issues back home which has forced her to move away and start fresh. In a by chance encounter, she meets our over the top, sexy, juicy (I don’t know if a man can be juicy, but he is to me), jealous, professional football player, Nate. Our hunk feels an instant pull to our sweet heroine. Hear me now, listen to me later; Nate is extremely obsessed over our leading lady. OBSESSED! He does a few things that may be questionable for some, make sure you check the TW’s at the start of the book. I enjoy an over the top male lead so his actions had me interested from the get go.

Brief Summary of The Other Half

Chapter 1 and we have a meet cute defending consent, so we are already off to a great start. Our girl Whitney is 22 and fresh out of undergrad entering her first year of teaching at a school in NOLA. Don’t let her age fool you. Whitney is smart, hilarious, passionate about her job, and has baggage of her own. It made her incredibly relatable. She isn’t stupid and while she has her doubts about Nate’s methods, you know he’s it for her. Then we have Nate. Our all charm and sex professional football player male lead. He’s possessive and boarding on stalker, so PLEASE read Annelise’s trigger note at the beginning. He’s a man who knows what he wants, follows his heart, even if it’s slightly unhinged. Despite that, you never have any question his devotion and love for Whitney. Their insta-lust is smoking hot out the gate. You can feel it steaming off the page. These do not play around when it comes to basic communication. It was refreshing to see a couple build a relationship vs just give into their lust. That said, Nate does a lot of secret keeping. The spice in this book starts at 17% and it just increases in temperature as it goes. You find yourself routing for this couple, despite some of the unconventional things and a few secrets. You can generally feel their emotions for one another and I absolutely teared up at the epilogue. Personally, I loved the connections to Nate’s family from the previous two books. They are like one of those families who does 5ks on Thanksgiving but you don’t but you love your partner and they’re wonderful so you join in. There are excellent side characters that you will love who are most likely getting their own stories. They also include Whitney’s wonderful students and the star of the book, their dog Petal who wears the best clothes in the whole book. Overall, I couldn’t put it down and I adored it.
