The Healer written by Courtney W. Dixon which was published in April 15, 2023. You can read this before The Healer PDF EPUB full Download at the bottom. This book gave me so much to think about. Like, what happens to a juvenile who is imprisoned with adults? Or like, what if your family or a family member is homophobic? Can the Mob be viewed as good people? The book opens when we are introduced separately to Jonas and José when they are just young teens. We find out how events during those years made them the men they became. They do not meet until they are both nurses working at a Mob funded clinic when they are 33 and 31 respectively. Mostly, Jonas keeps clumsily bumping into José and then can’t speak because he is exceptionally shy. With Jonas a foot taller than 5’7” José, they had to be an interesting pair. All does not go smoothly for this couple, but wait. If any two guys deserved an HEA, it would be Jonas and José. Lots of interesting if not always good secondary characters. I found myself feeling sorry for the most unlikely person in this book.If you like anything I said in my review, please try this book. I think you will be as happy as I am that you read it.

Brief Summary of the Book

Dixon does a great job of weaving in the history of the clinic and some of the secondary characters as well as introducing the MC’s with a brief history of why they are the way they are now. We get Jose, parents murdered, best friend imprisoned, raised by his grandmother, out and proud Hispanic. Jonas is a nurse with him at a community clinic, so closeted due to family pressure…large black gay man, so many prejudices. They are both lonely. Now there is a lot going with Jose grieving over his grandmother, worried about children from neighborhood, his childhood best friend being released. Jonas struggles with the subtle and extreme prejudices with his family. And then these two must figure out their feelings for each other and their relationship. Jose does not want another closeted boyfriend and poor Jonas loves his family so much, he can’t come out of that closet.
