The Collector’s Daugther was an enjoyable read that allowed readers into the heart and mind of Lady Eve Beauchamp. The research that Paul did to bring Eve’s voice to light after her many strokes, let readers connect to her and her predicament. I found myself praying that she did not choke or swallow wrong during the course of the story. Paul’s prose and structure of the story made it very clear who Eve was at different time periods in her life, something that is not easy to do.I almost cringed a bit at Ana’s part of the story, but it all worked out and gave me pause in thinking about issues of cultural appropriation and loyalty. All of it was very well done and I look forward to Paul’s next book.
