In this next Harper Security Ops book Leo is totally smitten by Hanna, who owns and runs the small houses she rents as alternative accommodation. We met her in the previous book, Distracted, and the air of mystery woven around her really intrigued me. Much of the beginning of this book explains everything and my heart went out to Hanna so much. She certainly had her share of trauma in her past but is a resilient woman and extremely caring towards others. Leo is a wholesome type of guy who lives quite a routine lifestyle, while this might make him sound boring he really isn’t. He definitely knows how to take care of a woman when he is dating her, the fact that he is scrumptious to look at doesn’t hurt either. Both Hanna and Leo feel their attraction pretty much straight away as the physical chemistry is so powerful. Hanna has a few walls up though, which causes poor Leo a few concerns—but he’s up for the job. The mystery of who could be the serial killer, killing off various men in town, is one that floats along in the background of the story and pops up on Leo’s horizon to investigate. When the action and drama is at its peak you certainly feel the adrenaline rush from the excitement and fear. An amazing scene with the killer that stole the book, in my opinion. Once again, great descriptions of the characters and settings, as well as some very emotive writing makes this story a very enjoyable and entertaining one. Now I am looking forward to reading more about Magnus.

Brief Summary of the Book

Hannah’s story is one that will rip your heart out and yet it also mends it with strength and love. Coming from horrific situations, Hannah had a rough start in life and when she chose to leave it the last thing she expected was to find friends in two other lost souls trying to survive, Aiden and Garrett. They cross lines for the sake of survival but at some point, she realizes there’s a fine line of surviving and doing things for the thrill, so she questions a lot of what they do.
When a bad situation that could have her locked up or sent away ends up being the best thing to ever happen to her, she slowly starts to lead a normal life even when the boys walk away. She never forgets the struggles they went through and the bonds they formed. Years later Hannah made herself an incredible life that she loves and while she never forgot Aiden and Garrett, she’s at peace with where she is in life, yet she’s still all alone. Hannah and Leo have this attraction from the start, but Hannah is tongue tied when it comes to talking to him. Leo makes it his mission to get to know her and as they spend more time together things really heat up. Leo works as a consultant to the local police as well as a PI and when this case starts to point in a certain direction he is at a loss as to what to do because the Hannah he knows is a beautiful and caring soul. When it’s all said and done will Hannah have anyone standing in her corner or will she still be alone? Can the relationship between Leo and Hannah survive this mystery that surrounds them, or will they walk away?
