Brief Summary Doctor Know It All by Ashlie Silas

This book features Dylan, an introverted psychiatrist who has been in practice for several years while also co-owning a multimillion dollar company on the side…all by the age of 32; and Emilia, a 31-year old surgeon who is a people-pleasing hot mess. Right off the bat, let me say this bugs me. It takes approximately 12 years to complete medical school and a psychiatric residency, and 13 years to become a surgeon, so at best these characters should be just completing their residencies and starting their careers, not be the head of their department and/or several years into their career. Also, while I appreciate the author’s attempt to destigmatize mental illness, as someone who works in mental health I can say that Dylan’s interactions are more typical of a psychologist or other counselor. Psychiatrists are much more medication oriented, though I guess that doesn’t sound as sexy in a book?
