After the cliffy that we were left with I wasn’t sure with M. Sinclair would lead us, and she didn’t disappoint. We start the book off with Lazaro’s POV and I love that we got to see his internal struggle, and just how passionate he is. I swear the ones that fight the hardest are the ones that fall the hardest. We also see what happened after the ending of book 1, and the theories surrounding what / why it happened. We dive deeper into Astorath’s hold over so many people, not knowing who is under his thumb, or just a spy for him. His hold knows no bounds, and everyone is sus. We see the danger ramp up as the story goes on, and the fact that the academy may not be as safe and impenetrable as it seems.
